Opaque Presents: “A History of Graffiti” Film Series

Our first film series, led by Jerry Aldama, will outline the eras and evolution of the art form and culture of graffiti. We intend to provide an insider's perspective of the culture rarely seen by the general public.

The series will dive deep into the culture and give insight to the intricacies of the art form. It will start with its disputed origins in the early 1980s on the New York Subway system, then detail its spread to cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, and to the West Coast, with the coverage eventually reaching the entire world.

Each film will add a new perspective in order to build a comprehensive view of how the culture and art form of graffiti has evolved based on time and location. A few films are "on loan" directly from the artist, never seen before by the general public, and until now only viewed by a select handful of other graffiti writers.

Humans can be ugly and messy but inspiring and motivating at the same time. Watch as artists persevere through life's hardships and maintain focus on the survival of the culture, crew and most importantly, Rocking the spot!

Doors open at 8pm for blackbooking, movie starts at 9pm. Event is free.

Each showing has a custom screen printed collectible ticket for sale. One ticket per event is a Golden Ticket, which is a pass to a VIP, invite only event which will not be announced publicly. You can only purchase tickets in person at the event.
